Allison Wickham, Director of Apiary Operations at Thistlerock Mead Company, brings a decade of hands-on beekeeping and environmental expertise to her role overseeing hive health, regenerative pollination, and honey production for Thistlerock’s growing honeybee and pollination program. A Virginia native and James Madison University graduate, she discovered her passion for bees while working on Hawaii’s Big Island at Paradise Meadows, a diversified tropical farm producing coffee, macadamia nuts, fruits, and honey. What began as daily farm tasks soon became a lifelong calling—she returned stateside, determined to blend agriculture, ecology, and entrepreneurship.
After gaining professional experience in soil and crop management and advancing her studies in environmental science and agriculture, Allison continued to pursue beekeeping seriously. Despite strong credentials, traditional roles never quite fit. The COVID-19 pandemic became a
turning point: in April 2020, she launched Siller Pollinator Company,
transitioning to full-time beekeeping and building a sustainable model rooted in hive vitality and ecosystem stewardship.
Today, as founder of her own hive management business and a leader in Thistlerock’s apiary program, Allison ensures every bottle of mead reflects healthy hives and responsible land practices. “Beekeeping isn’t just a job—it’s a commitment to the planet and the craft,” she says. Her journey from Hawaiian orchards to Virginia meadows powers Thistlerock’s mission to revive mead through authentic, bee-centered innovation.
When not taking stings for the team or hauling hundreds of pounds of honey, she enjoys time on her farm with her partner, Erin, and their son, with beautiful horses, and road tripping to the Rocky Mountains.
